Cathy MatthewsOwner, Florida Licensed midwifeCathy has been a midwife for over 40 years and has delivered several hundred babies. She believes that birth is a normal, physiological process and people instinctively know how to birth their babies. Cathy graduated Brown University in 1970 and first became interested in home birth after the birth of her second child (at home) in 1976.
This led her to become a certified childbirth instructor in 1980. As she began to teach classes, word spread and she also began to be asked to attend births. Cathy decided she wanted to empower birthing people not only as a educator but as a midwife. As a result, she entered the North Florida School of Midwifery and becoming a Licensed Midwife in 1986. Cathy has years of experience and knowledge in homeopathics and herbal medicine and has take several classes in Alternative Medicine at Everglade University. In her spare time, Cathy likes to garden and design clothing patterns. |
